Our primary bedroom design has a very warm, modern traditional aesthetic with hints of Mediterranean style. Since it’s fairly large with a vaulted ceiling, I decided on a canopy bed to fill the vertical space. I searched high and low for a more affordable version of the designer canopy beds I loved, and this one is such great option!
With my white oak floors, I wanted to bring in some contrast with the nightstands. I absolutely loved the slight distressing on these black nightstands, with the more traditional look to compliment the old world Mediterranean style I was trying to incorporate. To add even more verticality, I paired them with these arched, antiqued mirrors – which are such beautiful pieces. An empty corner is always the perfect place for a faux tree, and this faux olive tree is one of the best I’ve found with good height for a more affordable price compared to others on the market.
As a rule of thumb, I like to keep my nightstand styling simple. A lamp plus maybe 3 – 4 other elements max. Candles, books, boxes, flowers or greenery, etc are all great ideas to add some nightstand decor. I love these lamps, they are the perfect bedside table lamp size, and are such classic look.
I often hear people say how challenging it can be to find bedding that is attractive, comfortable, and good quality, but not crazy expensive. I absolutely love this Tencel cotton duvet cover. It is the softest, most buttery fabric that has held up great so far (mine is in the Frost Gray color). As for styling, I like to follow the rules of 1/3’s. The flat sheet and quilt or blanket folded down one third from the top, and the duvet folded twice so that it sits one third from the bottom. It creates a high end, luxury hotel look! Outside of my regular bed pillows, euro shams and regular shams, I like to keep it to 3 accent pillows max.
I was so excited to find this end of bed bench with spindle legs that was the perfect compliment to the rest of the decor.
This gorgeous geometric lantern light fixture was exactly what I had pictured to round out the Mediterrean accents woven throughout.
