Perhaps this post should really be titled: How To Decorate with What You Have. Our master bedroom is a reflection of all the apartments/condos we’ve lived in in the past; and by that I mean when we moved into our current condo, I didn’t want to spend the money to fully redecorate. The good news was, we had a few key pieces that I still loved, like our bed and nightstands. And even better news, they were neutral and the style could really swing in a few different directions.
Typically when I see a tufted velvet upholstered bed and mirrored furniture, I think glam. But introducing some neutral woods, textures, and other finishes helps to curate a more eclectic style that in this case, reads more Modern Classic. Which is a perfect compliment to our overall home decor.
The main piece we invested in to tie everything together was this gorgeous lighter wood dresser. It really helped steer everything in a more modern and classic direction. I accessorized with a mix of vintage and budget friendly items to give everything a light and airy vibe.
I can’t recommend West Elm bedding enough. The duvet is probably the piece we’ve had the longest – we’re talking 5+ years and lots of washes – and the quality is still amazing. I have a reel on Instagram about styling bed pillows, so be sure to check it out!
To me, it’s really everything a master bedroom should be: warm, inviting, and cozy. Slightly California casual, part glam, and a hint of French Country. Somehow our collection of pieces work, and it’s one of my favorite rooms in our home.
