I have to admit, I may or may not have been designing my future living room when I put together this look. It’s skating somewhere between an upscale Upper East Side renovated pre-war apartment, and airy living room inside a crisp Spanish bungalow. I’d take either one as my next home for sure!
Using something like a statement bookcase is a great way to create character in lieu of built-ins. These gorgeous curved cabinets from Anthropologie had me at HELLO and were the inspiration for the room. The subtle blue tone of the wood was carried through in other elements to give the room a cohesive look.
I also love the opportunity to use a light fixture in your living space! Since most people typically will have recessed lighting, it’s really more for looks vs function. But a chandelier can add a lot of depth to a larger room.
